Enterprise Plaza
OJB Landscape Architecture transformed a barren open space above a parking structure into an active plaza welcoming visitors and tenants into the heart of Houston鈥檚 financial district. Enterprise Plaza is a dynamic public square offering flexible space and amenities for connection and interaction. Cooling water features, movable furniture, and a canopy of mature oak trees provides comfortable shaded space for gathering. An elliptical water feature with concentric rings of bubblers and a choreographed display of jets shooting twenty feet into the air defines the plaza鈥檚 central function space, around which pedestrian paths traverse to the building鈥檚 entry. The plaza鈥檚 custom stone planting structures and complex technical construction atop the building鈥檚 parking and equipment space earned accolades for OJB.

Bank of America Tower
Offering public space amenities beyond the street level, the 33-story Bank of America Tower (rated LEED Platinum) creatively responds to the need for outdoor space in Houston鈥檚 rapidly densifying urban core. The 12th-floor sky garden atop the parking deck offers respite from the building鈥檚 busy work environments with meandering walkways navigating to groupings of soft seating shaded by arcades. Lush native plantings and ornamental grasses placed strategically to maximize irrigation efficiency create an abstract pattern of plantings and amenity spaces. At ground level, the landscape serves its urban surroundings with terraced seating and shade trees welcoming visitors and commuters connecting from the nearby METRORail station.

609 Main at Texas
609 Main at Texas in Downtown Houston is home to a 48-story, 1,050,000 SF office tower. The tower is in the central business district along the city METRORail line, at the intersection of Main and Texas streets.
OJB designed an expansive two-tiered, 30,000 SF urban Green Roof, which offers unprecedented views of the urban skyline. Movable furniture and ipe benches allow for a multitude of flexible seating options on the roof terrace and a place for office workers to reconnect with nature, enjoy their lunch outdoors or host a team meeting in the fresh air. An interior, 28-foot tall green wall and water feature greet visitors in the main lobby.

In keeping with the project's design goal to be LEED Platinum, the hardscape includes durable non-glare materials selected for their ability to absorb the bright Houston sun and to define circulation. Native and adaptive species were utilized throughout the site, ensuring highly efficient planting that thrives in the urban environment, particularly in shade and wind prevalent on roof gardens. A drip irrigation system results in reduced water consumption while the planting absorbs approximately 70 percent of precipitation hitting the roof.
Attendees should be prepared to walk from each site to the next.
The Garden Dialogue will be led by Andrew Albers and Tarah Brand from OJB.
1.5 LA CES鈩 professional development hours will be available to attendees.
